Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
अथ बन्धपरिक्लिष्टो मार्जारो वीक्ष्य मूषिकम् । छिन्दन्तं वै तदा पाशानत्वरन्तं त्वरान्वित:
atha bandha-parikliṣṭo mārjāro vīkṣya mūṣikam | chindantaṃ vai tadā pāśān atvarantaṃ tvarānvitāḥ ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: Entonces el gato, afligido por la atadura, vio al ratón cortando las cuerdas de los lazos. Pero al notar que el ratón no obraba con rapidez, el gato—dominado por la urgencia—le habló para apremiarlo, instándolo a cortar los vínculos con mayor celeridad.
भीष्म उवाच
When one depends on another for rescue or relief, impatience and self-centered fear can arise; dharma here emphasizes timely, effective action and disciplined cooperation, especially when freedom and safety are at stake.
A cat is trapped in a snare. He sees a mouse cutting the binding ropes but doing so slowly. Driven by urgency, the cat urges the mouse to hurry and cut the bonds faster.
