सतां साप्तपदं मैत्रं स सखा मे5सि पण्डित: । सांवास्यकं करिष्यामि नास्ति ते भयमद्य वै

Transliteration

satāṁ sāptapadaṁ maitraṁ sa sakhā me ’si paṇḍitaḥ | sāṁvāsyakaṁ kariṣyāmi nāsti te bhayam adya vai ||

Translation

Bhishma dijo: «Entre los virtuosos, la amistad queda sellada con tan solo dar siete pasos juntos. Puesto que tú y yo hemos vivido aquí en estrecha compañía desde hace mucho, eres mi amigo sabio. Cumpliré sin falta el deber debido a quien ha compartido mi morada; por ello, desde hoy, nada has de temer.»
