मनसा भावगम्भीरो मार्जारं वाक्यमब्रवीत् | बिलावके द्वरा इस प्रकारकी स्तुति की जानेपर भी चूहा अपने मनसे गम्भीर भाव ही धारण किये रहा। उसने मार्जारसे पुनः इस प्रकार कहा-- || १९० इ ।।
manasā bhāvagambhīro mārjāraṃ vākyam abravīt | bilāvake dvarāḥ | sādhuḥ bhavān śrutārtho 'smi prīye ca na ca viśvase |
Dijo Lomaśa: El ratón, manteniendo la mente grave e inconmovible, habló de nuevo al gato: «Hermano, en verdad eres un hombre bueno; así lo he oído de ti. Eso me complace, pero no confío en ti. Por mucho que me alabes, por mucha riqueza que derrames por mi causa, ahora no puedo unirme a ti. El sabio y docto no se pone, sin razón apremiante, bajo el poder de su enemigo.»
