Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
“तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। अब मैं चला जाऊँगा। मुझे दूरसे भी तुमसे डर लगता है। मेरा यह पलायन विश्वासपूर्वक हो रहा हो या प्रमादके कारण; इस समय यही मेरा कर्तव्य है। बलवानोंके निकट रहना दुर्बल प्राणीके लिये कभी अच्छा नहीं माना जाता ।।
nāhaṃ tvayā sameṣyāmi nivṛtto bhava lomaśa | yadi tvaṃ sukṛtaṃ vets(i) tat sakhyam anusāraya ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «Que te sea propicia la dicha. Ahora me marcho. Aun desde lejos, te temo. Esta retirada mía—sea por confianza o por descuido—en este momento es mi deber. Permanecer cerca de los poderosos nunca se tiene por bueno para una criatura débil. No volveré a encontrarte, oh Lomaśa. Regresa. Si reconoces algún bien que haya hecho por ti, conserva siempre hacia mí esa amistad y obra conforme a ella».
