त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
क्षुपस्तु मनवे प्रादादादित्यतनयाय च । पुत्रेभ्य: श्राद्धदेवस्तु सूक्ष्मधर्मार्थकारणात्
kṣupas tu manave prādād ādityatanayāya ca | putrebhyaḥ śrāddhadevas tu sūkṣma-dharmārtha-kāraṇāt ||
Dijo Vasuharoma: «Kṣupa se lo entregó a Manu, el hijo del Sol. Manu—conocido como Śrāddhadeva—lo confió luego a sus hijos, para la sutil salvaguarda del dharma y del artha». El verso recalca que un instrumento de autoridad o una ordenanza debe transmitirse deliberadamente por una línea legítima, a fin de proteger el orden social, la justicia y la prosperidad con discernimiento y no con mera fuerza.
