अधर्मेण जयं लब्ध्वा को नु हृष्येत पण्डित:
adharmeṇa jayaṁ labdhvā ko nu hṛṣyet paṇḍitaḥ
Sañjaya dijo: «Habiendo obtenido la victoria por medio del adharma, ¿qué sabio podría alegrarse de verdad? Un triunfo nacido del adharma no puede ser causa de satisfacción genuina para quien comprende el recto deber y sus consecuencias».
संजय उवाच
Victory is not ethically neutral: if it is achieved through adharma, it is spiritually and morally tainted. A truly wise person measures success by righteousness and long-term consequence, not by outward gain.
