Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
दहाते स दिवा रात्रौ न च शर्माधिगच्छति । “अपने अपराधी शत्रुओंका ही यह संहार करके वे दिन-रात शोककी आगमें जलते हैं, कभी चैन नहीं पाते हैं
dahāte sa divā rātrau na ca śarmādhigacchati |
Vaiśampāyana dijo: Arde de día y de noche y no halla sosiego: aquellos que, tras provocar la destrucción de sus propios enemigos culpables, son consumidos por el fuego del duelo y no pueden alcanzar la calma.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when one succeeds in destroying enemies, the moral and emotional aftermath can be tormenting; violence often yields inner burning and loss of peace rather than lasting satisfaction.
Vaiśampāyana describes a person’s condition after destructive acts in war: day and night the mind is scorched by sorrow, and the person cannot obtain śarma—rest, comfort, or tranquility.
