Śalya’s Consecration as Senāpati and Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira (शल्यस्य सेनापत्यभिषेकः)

The verse highlights the ethical and psychological fallout of war: when a central champion falls, pride turns to panic, and those who relied on power rather than dharma lose inner steadiness and seek mere physical refuge.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that after Karṇa was killed, Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons were overwhelmed by fear of the victorious Pāṇḍavas and could find safety only by retreating to the Himālaya.
