अतिक्कुद्धस्य क्रुद्धस्तु ताडयामास तां गदाम् | यह देख क्रोधमें भरे भीमसेनने अत्यन्त कुपित हुए दुर्योधनकी सुवर्णजटित उस महावेगशालिनी गदापर ही अपनी गदासे आघात किया
atikruddhasya kruddhas tu tāḍayāmāsa tāṃ gadām |
Sañjaya dijo: Encolerizado más allá de toda medida, Bhīmasena—él mismo ardiendo de ira—golpeó directamente aquella maza. Al ver a Duryodhana, furioso en extremo, Bhīma descargó su propia maza sobre la maza impetuosa, engastada en oro, de Duryodhana. En el ardor de la batalla, la ira responde a la ira, y el duelo se vuelve una prueba de dominio propio tanto como de fuerza.
