Severe, disciplined tapas—when aligned with dharma and recognized by the wise—bears fruit as honor and higher spiritual attainment; additionally, proper conduct includes listening to sages and offering them respectful salutations.
A revered lady (called ‘devī’) is described as having completed extremely difficult austerities and, honored by gods and Brahmins, attaining heaven. Then, after hearing the sages’ words, a male figure (called ‘Acyuta’) goes to the hermitage and respectfully greets the sages near the Himalaya.
