कुमारके अभिषेक और उनके द्वारा दैत्योंके वधका वृत्तान्त सुनकर मुझे बड़ा आनन्द प्राप्त हुआ है और पुनः मेरे मनमें इस विषयको सुननेकी उत्कण्ठा जाग्रत् हो गयी है ।।
Janamejaya uvāca | kumārake abhiṣekaṁ ca taiś ca daityavadhaṁ śrutvā mahad ānandaṁ prāpto 'smi punaś ca me manasi śrotum utkaṇṭhā jātaiva || apāṁ patiḥ kathaṁ hāsminn abhiṣiktaḥ purā suraiḥ | tan me brūhi mahāprājña kuśalo 'si sattama sādhūśiromaṇe ||
Dijo Janamejaya: «Al oír el relato de la consagración en Kumāraka y de la matanza de los Dāityas por su mano, he sentido gran gozo; y una vez más ha despertado en mi mente un vivo anhelo de escuchar más sobre este asunto. ¿Cómo, en este mismo lugar sagrado, fue antaño consagrado por los dioses Varuṇa, señor de las aguas? Dímelo por completo, oh gran sabio; eres diestro en la exposición, el mejor de los hombres, joya cimera entre los virtuosos».
