शिलीमुखै: शिखण्डी च द्रोणपुत्रं समार्दयन् । उन्होंने निर्भय-से होकर अश्वत्थामापर बाण-समूहोंकी वर्षा आरम्भ कर दी। तदनन्तर वह कोलाहल सुनकर वीर प्रभद्रकगण जाग उठे। शिखण्डी भी उनके साथ हो लिया। उन सबने द्रोणपुत्रको पीड़ा देना आरम्भ किया

Sañjaya dijo: Śikhaṇḍī, hiriendo con flechas agudas, comenzó a apremiar con dureza al hijo de Droṇa (Aśvatthāmā). Sin temor, descargó sobre él andanadas de proyectiles.
