Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution
तस्मात्त्वमस्य पापस्य कर्मण: फलमाप्त॒हि । त्रीणि वर्षमहस्राणि चरिष्यसि महीमिमाम्
tasmāt tvam asya pāpasya karmaṇaḥ phalam āptahi | trīṇi varṣa-sahasrāṇi cariṣyasi mahīm imām ||
Por ello recibirás, sin falta, el fruto de este acto pecaminoso. Durante tres mil años vagarás por esta tierra.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores karma-phala: a sinful action inevitably yields a proportionate consequence, here expressed as prolonged suffering and exile-like wandering.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a grave wrongdoing is being judged, and the doer is declared to receive its result—condemned to roam the earth for three thousand years as punishment.
