Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
पाण्डवास्त्व॑ं च राष्ट्र च सदा संरक्ष्यमेव हि | तस्मात् संहर दिव्यं त्वमस्त्रमेतन्महाभुज
pāṇḍavās tvaṃ ca rāṣṭraṃ ca sadā saṃrakṣyam eva hi | tasmāt saṃhara divyaṃ tvam astram etan mahābhuja mahābāho ||
Dijo Vyāsa: «Debes proteger siempre a los Pāṇḍavas, a ti mismo y a este reino. Por tanto, oh poderoso de brazos, retira y refrena esta arma divina tuya.»
व्यास उवाच
Power must be governed by dharma: even a divine weapon should be restrained when its use threatens the rightful protection of people and the stability of the kingdom.
Vyāsa addresses a mighty warrior and urges him to safeguard the Pāṇḍavas, himself, and the realm; to prevent further harm, he commands the warrior to withdraw the invoked divine weapon.
