द्रौपहुुवाच लोभो धर्मस्य नाशाय भगवन् नाहमुत्सहे । अनर्ां वरमादातुं तृतीयं राजसत्तम
drauphy uvāca lobho dharmasya nāśāya bhagavan nāham utsahe | anarthāṁ varam ādātuṁ tṛtīyaṁ rājasattama ||
Draupadī dijo: «Oh venerable señor, la codicia conduce a la ruina del dharma. No consiento en aceptar un tercer don que traería calamidad, oh el mejor de los reyes».
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse warns that greed (lobha) destroys dharma, and it praises ethical restraint: even when one is offered more, one should refuse what would lead to harm (anartha) or further moral collapse.
After receiving boons, Draupadī addresses the king respectfully and declines a third boon, stating that accepting more would be driven by greed and would invite misfortune, thereby undermining dharma.
