विदुर उवाच महाराज विजानीहि यतृ्‌ त्वां वक्ष्यामि भारत । मुमूर्षोरौषधमिव न रोचेतापि ते श्रुतम्‌,विदुरजीने कहा--भरतकुलतिलक महाराज धुृतराष्ट्र! मरणासन्न रोगीको जैसे ओषधि अच्छी नहीं लगती, उसी प्रकार आपलोगोंको मेरी शास्त्रसम्मत बात भी अच्छी नहीं लगेगी। फिर भी मैं आपसे जो कुछ कह रहा हूँ, उसे अच्छी तरह सुनिये और समझिये

Transliteration

vidura uvāca mahārāja vijānīhi yat tvāṁ vakṣyāmi bhārata | mumūrṣor auṣadham iva na rocetāpi te śrutam ||

Translation

Vidura dijo: «Oh gran rey, oh Bharata, comprende bien lo que voy a decirte. Aunque mis palabras, aun oídas por ti, no te agraden—como la medicina no resulta grata a quien está cerca de la muerte—, escucha y capta su sentido.»
