Duryodhana dijo: «De entre los ochenta y ocho mil snātaka que el rey Yudhiṣṭhira sostiene en su casa, cada uno es atendido por treinta esclavas.»
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how prosperity can become a moral test: instead of inspiring admiration or humility, Duryodhana’s gaze turns abundance into resentment. It implicitly warns that envy distorts perception and drives unethical choices in political life.
In the royal assembly context of the Sabha Parva, Duryodhana is describing (and begrudging) the scale of Yudhiṣṭhira’s household and patronage, emphasizing the lavish attendance provided to those under his support.
