Educational Q&A

The verse highlights unwavering personal loyalty: Arjuna’s commitment to Kṛṣṇa is portrayed as so absolute that he would sacrifice even his life. Ethically, it raises the theme that devotion and allegiance can become decisive forces in political and moral conflict.

Duryodhana is speaking in the Sabha Parva, commenting on the bond between Arjuna (Pārtha) and Kṛṣṇa, and then referencing luxurious items—fragrant essences stored in golden jars—evoking the wealth and atmosphere of the royal court where tensions and strategies are unfolding.
