Duryodhana’s Description of Tribute at the Rājasūya
The verse highlights how envy and wounded pride arise from comparing oneself with others’ success; such inner agitation undermines ethical judgment and inclines a ruler away from dharma.
During Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya, Duryodhana sees the extraordinary prosperity and splendor of the Pāṇḍavas; feeling displeased and burdened at heart, he leaves and goes back toward Hastināpura.
