दुर्योधनस्य बलिवर्णनम् — Duryodhana’s Description of Tribute at the Rājasūya
द्वारं तु वितताकारं समापेदे पुनश्च सः । तद्वत्तं चेति मन्वानो द्वारस्थानादुपारमत्
dvāraṃ tu vitatākāraṃ samāpede punaś ca saḥ | tad vṛttaṃ ceti manvāno dvārasthānād upāramat ||
Luego volvió a dar con una puerta de vastas dimensiones. Temiendo que allí pudiera repetirse algún percance como en las puertas anteriores, se detuvo en el umbral y se volvió atrás.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical restraint and prudence: when prior experience suggests danger or impropriety, one should pause and withdraw rather than proceed recklessly.
A person reaches yet another very large gate; remembering (or suspecting) that an unpleasant incident like the earlier door-episodes may recur, he stops at the doorway and turns back.
