अर्जुनस्य दिग्विजयारम्भः — Arjuna Initiates the Northern Campaign and Secures Bhagadattta’s Tribute
कार्तिकस्य तु मासस्य प्रवृत्तं प्रथमेडहनि । अनाहार दिवारात्रमविश्रान्तमवर्तत,कार्तिक मासके पहले दिन उन दोनोंका युद्ध प्रारम्भ हुआ और दिन-रात बिना खाये- पिये अविरामगतिसे चलता रहा
Kārtikasya tu māsasya pravṛttaṃ prathame 'hani | anāhāra-divārātram aviśrāntam avartata ||
En el primer día mismo del mes de Kārtika comenzó su combate; y prosiguió sin interrupción—día y noche—sin comida ni bebida, sin descanso. La narración subraya la fiera determinación y el esfuerzo implacable capaces de llevar a los guerreros más allá de los límites ordinarios del hombre, y deja entrever la cuestión moral de hasta dónde pueden arrastrar la resistencia y la obsesión por la victoria.
