Jarāsandha-prastāvaḥ — Nīti-cintā ca Jarāsandhasya janma-vṛttāntaḥ

The Jarāsandha Prelude: Strategic Counsel and Birth Account

Educational Q&A

Success in any undertaking depends on a union of purposeful action (karma) and the workings of destiny (daiva); mere strength is insufficient if one is negligent and fails to apply the mind to duty.

Arjuna addresses a king (“Mahārāja”), offering counsel on the conditions of victory: disciplined effort aligned with duty, supported by favorable destiny, and warning that carelessness ruins even the strong.
