क्षणा लवा मुहूर्ताश्च दिवारात्रिस्तथैव च | अर्धमासाश्च मासाश्न ऋतव: षट् च भारत,युधिष्ठिर! क्षण, लव, मुहूर्त, दिन, रात, पक्ष, मास, छहों ऋतुएँ,
kṣaṇā lavā muhūrtāś ca divārātris tathaiva ca | ardhāmāsāś ca māsāś ca ṛtavaḥ ṣaṭ ca bhārata yudhiṣṭhira |
Nārada dijo: «Oh Bhārata, oh Yudhiṣṭhira: el tiempo se cuenta en muchas medidas: kṣaṇa, lava y muhūrta; asimismo el día y la noche; las quincenas y los meses; y también las seis estaciones. Así avanza el orden del tiempo en su curso establecido.»
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes the ordered, measurable progression of time—from the smallest instants to seasons—suggesting a stable cosmic rhythm within which human action (dharma) must be understood and practiced.
Nārada addresses Yudhiṣṭhira and begins/continues an instructive explanation by listing standard divisions of time, setting a reflective frame for understanding events and duties within the larger order of the world.
