Maya’s Offer and the Commissioning of the Sabhā
The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: a righteous king offers appropriate honor to a guest, and the guest responds by accepting with humility and respect. Social harmony is sustained through reciprocal courtesy (satkāra) rather than pride or hostility.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira formally receives Māyāsura with fitting honors, and Māya accepts that hospitality respectfully—setting the tone for Māya’s subsequent association with the Pāṇḍavas in the Sabha Parva context.
