Arjuna’s evacuation of Dvārakā, Vasudeva’s rites, and the caravan’s crisis
The verse highlights the interplay of divine power and moral-cosmic necessity: even an all-capable protector may refrain from preventing events when karmic consequences and the ordained course of time must mature. It invites reflection on responsibility—those who generate causes must face their results, even under the gaze of the divine.
In the Mausala Parva context, Vyāsa comments on Kṛṣṇa’s choice not to avert the impending calamity that will befall his own people. Though capable of removing the danger—even on a cosmic scale—Kṛṣṇa allows the destined dissolution to proceed.
