Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
नियति तु जने तस्मिन् सागरो मकरालय: । द्वारकां रत्नसम्पूर्णा जलेनाप्लावयत् तदा,उस जनसमुदायके निकलते ही मगरों और घड़ियालोंके निवासस्थान समुद्रने रत्नोंसे भरी-पूरी द्वारका नगरीको जलसे डुबो दिया
niyati tu jane tasmin sāgaro makarālayaḥ | dvārakāṃ ratnasampūrṇāṃ jalena aplāvayat tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: En cuanto aquel pueblo partió—impulsado por la niyati (el destino)—el océano, morada de los makaras, inundó entonces Dvārakā, la ciudad colmada de tesoros, y la sumergió bajo sus aguas. El verso subraya la fuerza irresistible del destino, que conduce a la disolución incluso a los logros humanos más espléndidos.
