The verse juxtaposes sacred chant with uncontrolled lament, highlighting how, in times of catastrophe, ritual order and human sorrow coexist. It implicitly points to the fragility of worldly stability and the inevitability of suffering when dharma has been exhausted and consequences unfold.
A scene of turmoil is described through sound: the crackle of a blazing fire, the grave resonance of Sāma-chanting, and the cries of weeping people arise together, conveying a communal moment of crisis and mourning.
