अवध्यकल्पा निहता नरेन्द्रा- स्तवार्थकामा युधि पाण्डवेयै: । तनन््मा शुचो भारत दिष्टमेतत् पर्याश्वस त्वं न सदास्ति सिद्धि:,जो-जो राजा तुम्हारे स्वार्थकी सिद्धि चाहनेवाले और अवध्यके समान थे, उन सबको पाण्डवोंने युद्धमें मार डाला। अतः भारत! तुम शोक न करो। यह सब प्रारब्धका खेल है। सबको सदा ही सिद्धि नहीं मिलती, ऐसा जानकर धैर्य धारण करो”

avadhyakalpā nihatā narendrās tavārthakāmā yudhi pāṇḍaveyaiḥ |
tan mā śuco bhārata diṣṭam etat paryāśvasa tvaṃ na sadāsti siddhiḥ ||
Sanjaya dijo: Aquellos reyes que parecían como si no pudieran ser abatidos, y que combatían buscando el cumplimiento de sus propios fines, han sido muertos en batalla por los hijos de Pandu. Por ello, oh Bharata, no te aflijas. Esto ha sido ordenado por el destino; cobra ánimo, pues el éxito no llega a todos en todo tiempo.
