अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः

शोकस्यान्तं न पश्यामि पारं जलनिधेरिव । चिन्ता मे वर्धतेडतीव मुमूर्षा चापि जायते,जैसे समुद्रका पार नहीं दिखायी देता, उसी प्रकार मैं इस शोकका अन्त नहीं देख पाता हूँ। मेरी चिन्ता अधिकाधिक बढ़ती जाती है और मरनेकी इच्छा प्रबल हो उठी है

Transliteration

śokasyāntaṁ na paśyāmi pāraṁ jalanidher iva | cintā me vardhate ’tīva mumūrṣā cāpi jāyate ||

Translation

Dijo Dhṛtarāṣṭra: «No alcanzo a ver el fin de mi dolor, como no se ve la orilla lejana del océano. Mi inquietud crece cada vez más, y hasta el deseo de morir ha nacido en mí.»
