अथाब्रवीद्‌ वासुदेवो5पि पार्थ दृष्टवा रथेषून्‌ प्रतिहन्यमानान्‌

atha abravīd vāsudevo ’pi pārtha dṛṣṭvā rathaiṣūn pratihanyamānān | tadanantaraṁ vasudeva-nandano bhagavān śrī-kṛṣṇo ’pi arjunasya ratha-sambandhī bāṇān karṇena naṣṭān dṛṣṭvā tam evam uvāca | “kirīṭadhārin arjuna! eṣā kim etad? tvayā yāvat-kṛtāḥ prahārāḥ, te sarve karṇena tava astrāṇi svāstrabhir vināśitāḥ | vīra! adya tvayi kīdṛśo mohaḥ samāviṣṭaḥ? kuto ’si apramattaḥ? paśya, ete tava śatravaḥ kauravāḥ paramānandena siṁha-nādaṁ kurvanti!”

Dijo Sañjaya: Entonces Vasudeva (Krishna) también habló a Pārtha (Arjuna). Al ver que las flechas dirigidas al carro eran derribadas una y otra vez, el bienaventurado Krishna, hijo de Vasudeva, observando que Karṇa destruía los dardos de Arjuna destinados al carro, le dijo: «¡Oh Arjuna, portador de la diadema! ¿Qué significa esto? Cada vez que has lanzado tus ataques, Karṇa ha respondido y anulado tus armas con las suyas. ¡Oh héroe!, ¿qué ilusión te ha sobrevenido hoy? ¿Por qué no estás plenamente alerta? Mira: tus enemigos, los Kauravas, rugen como leones, henchidos de júbilo».
