त्वं चेत् कर्णसुतं पार्थ सूतपुत्रस्य पश्यत: । प्रतिज्ञावारणार्थाय निहनिष्यसि सायकै:
sañjaya uvāca | tvaṃ cet karṇasutaṃ pārtha sūtaputrasya paśyataḥ | pratijñā-vāraṇārthāya nihaniṣyasi sāyakaiḥ |
Sañjaya dijo: «Oh Pārtha, tú que honras a los dignos: si, ante los propios ojos de Karṇa, el hijo del auriga, abates con flechas a su hijo Vṛṣasena para cumplir tu voto y apartar el obstáculo, entonces ese Karṇa de ánimo torcido, al ver muerto a su amado hijo, se verá forzado a recordar el consejo que en otro tiempo pronunciaron Droṇa, Bhīṣma y Vidura».
