The verse underscores the terrifying scale of war and the moral weight of martial power: a single encounter with a supreme warrior can bring mass destruction, reminding the listener that kṣatriya prowess carries grave ethical consequences in a dharma-bound conflict.
Sanjaya, reporting the battle, expresses his considered view that meeting Arjuna on the battlefield could lead to the annihilation of the kṣatriya host in a single day, and he points out the fearsome Kaurava army arrayed for combat.
