एक एव रणे भीष्म एकवीरत्वमागत: । “किंतु समरांगणमें भीष्मजी अकेले ही पाण्डवों और सूंजयोंको खदेड़कर युद्धमें अद्वितीय वीरके रूपमें विख्यात हुए
eka eva raṇe bhīṣma ekavīratvam āgataḥ |
Sañjaya dijo: En aquella batalla, Bhīṣma, él solo, alcanzó la condición de campeón solitario—rechazando a los Pāṇḍavas y a los Sṛñjayas, y haciéndose célebre como un héroe sin par en el campo. La línea subraya cómo una destreza marcial extraordinaria puede, en la guerra, eclipsar por un instante el número y las alianzas, y a la vez insinúa la grandeza trágica de guerreros atados al dharma, encerrados en una destrucción mutua.
