कर्णनिधनवृत्तान्तनिवेदनम् | Reporting Karṇa’s Fall to Yudhiṣṭhira
सत्यं मया सदा वाच्यमिति तस्याभवद् व्रतम् । सत्यवादीति विख्यात: स तदा55सीद्ू धनंजय,धनंजय! उसने यह नियम ले लिया था कि मैं सदा सत्य ही बोलूँगा। इसलिये उन दिनों वह सत्यवादीके नामसे विख्यात हो गया था
satyaṃ mayā sadā vācyam iti tasyābhavad vratam | satyavādīti vikhyātaḥ sa tadāsīd dhanaṃjaya ||
Adoptó un voto: «Debo decir siempre la verdad». Por esa determinación, oh Dhanaṃjaya, en aquellos días se hizo célebre con el nombre de «el que dice la verdad».
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights satya (truthfulness) as a deliberate ethical discipline: by taking a firm vrata—an obligation to speak truth at all times—one’s character becomes defined by integrity and earns lasting moral reputation.
Vāyudeva addresses Arjuna (Dhanaṃjaya) and recalls how a certain person adopted a strict vow to always speak the truth; as a result, he became widely known as a satyavādī, a famed truth-speaker.
