को नु मे जीवितेनार्थों राज्येनार्थों भवेत्‌ पुन: । ममैवं विक्षतस्याद्य कर्णेनाहवशोभिना

Transliteration

ko nu me jīvitena artho rājyenārtho bhavet punaḥ | mamaivaṁ vikṣatasya adya karṇenāhava-śobhinā, sa tvāṁ pṛcchāmi kaunteya yathādya kuśalaṁ tathā | tan mamācakṣva kārtsnyena yathā karṇo hatas tvayā kuntī-nandana ||

Translation

Yudhiṣṭhira dijo: «¿Qué provecho tiene para mí la vida—qué provecho el reino otra vez—si hoy he quedado así herido por Karṇa, la gloria del campo de batalla? Por eso, oh hijo de Kuntī, te pregunto: ya que hoy has regresado sano y salvo y has dado muerte a Karṇa, cuéntame por completo todo lo sucedido: cómo fue que Karṇa cayó por tu mano.»
