कर्णस्य सेनापत्याभिषेकः | Karṇa’s Consecration as Commander-in-Chief
वसुदानश्च कदनं कुर्वाणो$तीव संयुगे | भारद्वाजेन विक्रम्य गमितो यमसादनम्,वसुदान भी युद्धस्थलमें बड़ा भारी संहार मचा रहा था। परंतु भरद्वाजनन्दन द्रोणने पराक्रम करके उसे यमलोक पहुँचा दिया
vasudānaś ca kadanaṃ kurvāṇo ’tīva saṃyuge | bhāradvājena vikramya gamito yamasādanam ||
Dijo Sañjaya: Vasudāna, que desataba una matanza feroz en lo más recio de la batalla, se topó con el valor del hijo de Bhāradvāja (Droṇa); con pericia decisiva fue enviado a la morada de Yama.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, where violence surges, outcomes are governed by a larger moral and causal order: the one who spreads destruction can be swiftly checked by a superior force acting within the warrior code, and death equalizes all battlefield pride.
Sañjaya reports that Vasudāna was causing great carnage in the battle, but Droṇa (identified as Bhāradvāja’s son) confronted him with valor and killed him—poetically described as sending him to Yama’s abode.
