जल त्यक्त्वा प्रधावन्ति क्रोशमाना: परस्परम् । “अर्जुन! कितने ही योद्धा पानी लानेके लिये गये
jalaṁ tyaktvā pradhāvanti krośamānāḥ parasparam |
Dijo Sañjaya: Arrojando el agua, corrían en todas direcciones, clamando unos a otros. La escena subraya la crueldad y la futilidad que engendra la guerra: incluso los esfuerzos por salvar vidas llegan demasiado tarde, y el duelo ahoga el deber; quienes regresaron con agua, al ver a sus propios parientes yaciendo sin sentido, la abandonan allí mismo y se precipitan, entre alaridos, de un lado a otro.
