कर्णपार्षतयोर्मध्ये त्वदीयानां महारण: । भारत! कर्ण और धृष्टद्युम्नके बीचमें खड़े हुए आपके महामनस्वी योद्धाओंका पाण्डव- सैनिकोंके साथ महान संग्राम हुआ

Transliteration

karṇapārṣatayor madhye tvadīyānāṃ mahāraṇaḥ | bhārata! karṇa-dhṛṣṭadyumnayor madhye sthitānāṃ tava mahāmanasvināṃ yoddhṝṇāṃ pāṇḍava-sainikaiḥ saha mahān saṅgrāmo 'bhavat |

Translation

Sañjaya dijo: Oh Bharata, en el espacio entre Karṇa y sus cercanos, tus guerreros de noble ánimo—apostados entre Karṇa y Dhrishtadyumna—fueron arrastrados a un choque vasto y terrible con las fuerzas de los Pāṇḍava. Así creció la batalla, impulsada por la lealtad a los jefes y por las exigencias implacables de la guerra, mientras la rectitud y la contención eran puestas a prueba en medio de la matanza.
