Prelude to Karṇa’s Slaying
पत्तय: पत्तिसंघांश्ष हयसंघांश्व॒ पत्तय: । पत्तयो रथमातड्जन् रथा हस्त्यश्वमेव च
pattayaḥ pattisaṅghāṁś ca hayasaṅghāṁś ca pattayaḥ | pattayo ratham ātaḍjan rathā hastyaśvam eva ca ||
Dijo Sañjaya: Los infantes abatían masas de infantería y masas de jinetes; y la infantería también acometía contra los carros de guerra, junto con sus aurigas, elefantes y caballos. Era una escena de total enredo en el campo de batalla, donde cada arma del ejército se volvía contra las otras en el apretón de la guerra, mostrando cómo la violencia, una vez desatada, se derrama por todas las filas sin freno.
