कर्णनिधनश्रवणम् — Hearing of Karṇa’s Fall and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament
विन्दानुविन्दावावन्त्यौ राजपुत्रौ महारथौ । कृत्वा त्वसुकरं कर्म गतौ वैवस्वतक्षयम्,अवन्तीदेशके महारथी राजकुमार विन्द और अनुविन्द भी दुष्कर कर्म करके यमलोकको चले गये
vindānuvindāv āvantyau rājaputrau mahārathau | kṛtvā tv asukaraṃ karma gatau vaivasvatakṣayam ||
Sañjaya dijo: Vindā y Anuvindā, los dos príncipes de Avanti y grandes guerreros de carro, tras realizar una hazaña sumamente difícil de cumplir, fueron a la morada de Vaivasvata (Yama). El relato subraya el sombrío costo moral de la guerra: aun los célebres héroes kṣatriya, después de consumar su peligrosa obligación marcial, encuentran la muerte y pasan al reino de Yama.
