Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how overwhelming force and momentum in war can appear as cosmic disturbance—suggesting that human actions (especially in adharma-saturated conflict) reverberate through the natural world, functioning as omens that intensify moral and psychological pressure on the warriors.

Sañjaya reports to Karṇa that Arjuna’s chariot is advancing with such speed and power that its wheels seem to make the earth quake, while the dust thrown up rises and blankets the sky—an image of impending clash and the terrifying scale of the battle.
