“महातेजस्वी नरेश! अब कर्णका और आपका भाग शेष रह गया है। अतः: आप कर्णके साथ रहकर शत्रुसेनाके उस भागको एक साथ ही नष्ट कर दीजिये ।। अरुणेन यथा सार्ध तम: सूर्यो व्यपोहति । तथा कर्णेन सहितो जहि पार्थ महाहवे,'जैसे अरुणके साथ सूर्य अन्धकारका नाश करते हैं, उसी प्रकार आप महासमरमें कर्णके साथ रहकर कुन्तीकुमार अर्जुनका वध कीजिये
sañjaya uvāca | mahātejasvin nareśa! adya karṇasya ca tava ca bhāgaḥ śeṣaḥ paryavasitaḥ | ataḥ tvaṁ karṇena saha tiṣṭhan śatrusenāyās tasya bhāgasyaikata eva nāśaṁ kuru || aruṇena yathā sārdhaṁ tamaḥ sūryo vyapohati | tathā karṇena sahito jahi pārtha mahāhave ||
Sañjaya dijo: «Oh rey de gran esplendor, ahora sólo queda la parte de la batalla que corresponde a Karṇa y a ti. Por ello, mantente junto a Karṇa y destruye esa porción del ejército enemigo con un solo golpe concertado. Así como el Sol, acompañado de Aruṇa, ahuyenta las tinieblas, del mismo modo, unido a Karṇa, derriba a Pārtha (Arjuna) en la gran contienda.»
