The verse highlights steadfast performance of duty amid danger: even Kṛṣṇa, serving as charioteer, endures the hazards of war without abandoning his role, illustrating composure and commitment in the face of adversity.
During the fierce fighting, Kṛṣṇa (Mādhava) is struck by a tomara (javelin). From the impact, the charioteer’s whip and the reins slip and fall from his hand, and Sañjaya reports this to Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
