Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode (द्रोणस्य भीषणव्यचरितम् / सौभद्र-जयद्रथ-संनिपातः)
ततः सर्वान् समानाय्य क्रातृनन्यांश्व सर्वशः
tataḥ sarvān samānāyya krātr̥n anyāṁś ca sarvaśaḥ | āptair āśu parijñātaṁ bhāradvāja-cikīrṣitam ||
Sañjaya dijo: Entonces Yudhiṣṭhira convocó a todos sus hermanos y a los demás reyes desde todos los flancos; y, por medio de informantes dignos de confianza, supo con presteza lo que el hijo de Bhāradvāja (Droṇa) se proponía hacer. Comprendida así la situación, reunió a sus aliados para responder con prudencia, de modo que el voto y la estratagema de Droṇa fueran afrontados sin abandonar el dharma ni poner en peligro al rey legítimo.
संजय उवाच
Even amid war, righteous leadership requires timely knowledge, consultation, and measured response. Yudhiṣṭhira’s first move is not rash retaliation but accurate understanding of the opponent’s intent through trustworthy sources, aligning strategy with dharma.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira quickly discovers Droṇa’s intended course of action through reliable informants and then summons his brothers and allied kings from all directions to coordinate a response.
