The verse highlights the paradox of righteous warfare: technical mastery and disciplined countering of weapons are praised as kṣatriya excellence, yet the outcome remains the irreversible moral gravity of death. It invites reflection on responsibility and consequence even amid sanctioned battle.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna, described as an atiratha, is successfully neutralizing the enemy’s missiles with his own and is killing the leading warriors of the Kaurava forces—figuratively sending them to Death (Yama).
