भीष्मभीमसमागमः — Bhīṣma–Bhīma Strategic Engagement and Counsel to the King

ततः प्रभाते विमले स्वेन सैन्येन वीर्यवान्‌,तदनन्तर निर्मल प्रभातकी बेलामें व्यूहविशारद नरश्रेष्ठ बलवान्‌ भीष्मने अपनी सेनाके द्वारा स्वयं ही मण्डल नामक व्यूहका निर्माण किया, जो नाना प्रकारके अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंसे सम्पन्न था

tataḥ prabhāte vimale svena sainyena vīryavān | tadanantaraṁ nirmale prabhātakī belāyāṁ vyūhaviśārado naraśreṣṭho balavān bhīṣmaḥ svayaṁ mṇḍala-nāmakaṁ vyūhaṁ nirmame, yo nānā-vidhair astra-śastraiḥ sampannaḥ ||

Dijo Sañjaya: Luego, al alba clara e inmaculada, el poderoso Bhīṣma—experto en disponer formaciones de combate y el más eminente entre los hombres—trazó personalmente, con su propio ejército, la formación llamada “Mandala”. Estaba provista de muchas clases de armas y proyectiles, señal de una preparación deliberada y de una organización disciplinada para la lucha de aquel día.
