Su pericia con elefantes, caballos y carros ha sido probada muchas veces; y, tras el debido examen, a cada uno se le ha otorgado paga conforme a lo justo».

Educational Q&A

Even in war, order and fairness are emphasized: competence is verified through repeated testing, and remuneration is assigned according to merit and propriety (yathā-nyāyam), reflecting an ethic of disciplined duty rather than mere chaos or favoritism.

Sañjaya is reporting to Dhṛtarāṣṭra about the army’s preparedness—its soldiers are proficient in mounted maneuvers with elephants, horses, and chariots, have been repeatedly tested, and have been duly assigned pay commensurate with their qualifications.
