Bhīmasena–Duryodhana Engagement at Sunset
वपुर्भिश्न नरेन्द्राणां चन्द्रसूर्यसमप्र भे: । विरराज तदा राजंस्तत्र तत्र रणाज्रणम्,राजन! चन्द्रमा और सूर्यके समान प्रकाशित होनेवाले राजाओंके शरीरोंसे वह समरांगण यत्र-तत्र सर्वत्र शोभा पा रहा था
vapurbhiś ca narendrāṇāṃ candrasūryasamaprabhaiḥ | virarāja tadā rājaṃs tatra tatra raṇājire ||
Sañjaya dijo: Oh Rey, entonces el campo de batalla resplandecía por doquier, aquí y allá, iluminado por los cuerpos de los monarcas cuya radiancia era como la de la luna y el sol.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the contrast between worldly brilliance and the harsh truth of war: even the most radiant royal power is transient, and splendor does not shield one from the consequences of conflict. It invites reflection on kṣatriya duty and the cost of glory.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, saying that the field appeared resplendent everywhere because many kings, radiant like the moon and sun, were present across the battle lines.
