Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes that wise counsel in a crisis (here, war) is anchored in recognizing true greatness (māhātmya) and moral-spiritual authority—represented by Keśava. Reverent acknowledgment becomes the ethical basis for guidance about dharma.

Sañjaya reports to the king that Bhīṣma speaks again, responding after hearing about Keśava’s greatness. The verse functions as a transition into Bhīṣma’s ensuing words, signaling that his response is shaped by what has been said about Kṛṣṇa.
