अप्सु वै शयनं चक्रे महात्मा पुरुषोत्तम: । सर्वतेजोमयो देवो योगात् सुष्वाप तत्र ह,सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके ईश्वर इन भगवान् श्रीहरिने पृथ्वीदेवी-की सृष्टि करके जलमें शयन किया। वे महात्मा पुरुषोत्तम सर्वतेजोमय देवता योगशक्तिसे उस जलमें सोये
apsu vai śayanaṃ cakre mahātmā puruṣottamaḥ | sarvatejomayo devo yogāt suṣvāpa tatra ha ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: «El magnánimo Ser Supremo hizo su lecho sobre las aguas. Aquella Deidad radiante, colmada de todo esplendor, reposó allí en quietud yóguica—señal de su soberano dominio sobre la creación y de la serena fuerza, plena en sí misma, con la que el Señor sostiene los mundos aun cuando todo parece disolverse en el océano primordial.»
